Fresh Talk: Erika Hoffmann

In Berlin, contemporary art collector Erika Hoffmann talks about her love for artists who question traditional forms and take the risk of inventing new genres. For this conversation, we take you inside the famous Sammlung Hoffmann (Hoffmann Collection) to learn what compelled her to collect the work of Marcel Broodthaers, John Cage, and Katharina Grosse.

Fresh Talk: Camille Norment

American-born artist Camille Norment lives and works in Norway. We recorded the episode inside the Nordic Pavilion at the 56^th Venice Art Biennale. Norment's project animates a space designed to converse with the surrounding topography, weather, and natural light. Titled Rapture, her elegant, immersive sonic environment evokes both harmony and dissonance.

Fresh Talk: Agnes Meyer-Brandis

In Berlin, Cathy Byrd meets German artist Agnes Meyer-Brandis in the control tower of Tempelhof, an abandoned airport at the edge of the city, to see the artist's installation "Up In the Air: Control Room Tempelhof." Agnes fuses pure science and creativity to explore the zone between fact and fiction, fantasy and technology. So far, her projects have taken Agnes to the U.S., Russia, Brazil, Switzerland, Austria, Argentina and Australia. The artist rarely works in a typical studio or gallery setting. You're more likely to find Agnes exploring the poetics of glaciers beneath ice skating rinks and raising moon geese. Fresh Talk: Marcos Lutyens

In Kassel, Germany, Cathy Byrd joins documenta(13)artist Marcos Lutyens for a Hypnotic Session in the Reflection Room. Based in Los Angeles, the London-born intermedia artist works with other artists and curators to develop events and exhibits that reflect his research into the mind and the unconscious. Marcos collaborated with artist, curator and writer Raimundas Malašauskas and smell researcher and artist Sissel Tolass to create this Hypnotic Session. New Music—with Kate Moore in the Netherlands

In the Netherlands, we travel to Den Hague to record with Australian musician and composer Kate Moore at home. We're here to learn more about the new music she invents for international performances. Kate’s ensemble RPM Electro brings their Handmade Homegrown concert to The Hague's Theater Dakota in November 2012.

This is not our first encounter with Kate Moore. We met for the first time in summer 2012, at MacDowell, where she was a resident in their artist community.

The MacArthur Fellow and artistic adviser for jazz at the Kennedy Center talks about when he first started improvising, how he collaborates with contemporary artists, and what unfolded during Bleed, the suite of events he curated with his wife Alicia Hall Moran during their 2012 residency at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
